THE WORD SOCIETY
Sonya has had a "street team" for some time, but we realized that this is a weird way to describe something that is more like a community. We decided to relaunch the street team as the "Word Society," which will be made up of groups of friends in cities across the US and Canada who help promote Sonya's music and whatever else the members are into. We’ll get you posters, postcards, and other goodies, but the plan is pretty simple: you can do what you want, whether it’s hosting a gathering of friends and playing some Sonya in the background, to going out and putting Sonya's posters up in your neighborhood mall, coffee shop, or record store, to emailing a link to a favorite Sonya song to all your friends, to calling your local radio station, newspaper, or magazine. Either way, we’ll put you in touch with other fans in your area, and maybe you can find ways to do things together -- and discover what you have in common.
We want to keep in touch with you and for you to keep in touch with each other, so we hope you’ll post to the “Word Society” section on the Sonya website message board and let us know what you've done. It’s a great way to meet other people and also see what others are doing. From our end, we’ll give Word Society members autographed material, live recordings, free tickets to shows, and maybe even set up a house party where Sonya stops by for a song or two.
So joining the Word Society is an exciting opportunity to get involved early on in Sonya's career. If you feel inspired to make friends and help out Sonya at the same time, please contact Tony on the "Word Society" section of the Sonya bulletin board. He promises to write back!
